Gregorio Boscán

Origin: Maracaibo, Venezuela
Visual Artist, Architect, and Museologist

With over four decades dedicated to artistic creation, Gregorio Boscán stands as one of the most representative figures of contemporary Venezuelan art. Born in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Boscán has developed a multidisciplinary body of work that spans painting, sculpture, urban interventions, video art, and architectural design — always marked by a profound connection to his natural and cultural environment.

Educated at the Julio Árraga School of Fine Arts and later graduating as an architect from Rafael Urdaneta University, Boscán further complemented his career with studies in museology. This unique background allows him to seamlessly integrate aesthetics, space, and curatorial discourse into every one of his projects. His work, exhibited across Venezuela, the United States, Italy, and Mexico, often explores the relationship between humanity, memory, and water — a recurring symbol of identity and transformation inspired by Lake Maracaibo and its impact on life in Zulia.

Currently serving as the General Director of the (MACZUL), Boscán champions the visibility of Latin American contemporary art and fosters dialogue between artists, institutions, and communities. His approach fuses technique, emotion, and narrative, consolidating his position as a creator whose work transcends the canvas to become an experience.

Through every piece, Gregorio Boscán transforms landscape and memory into art, offering a deeply human and poetic vision of the world we inhabit.
